BayCES Presenting at PEN Annual Conference   

BayCES Executive Director LaShawn Routé Chatmon and Chinyelu Martin, Director of District and Organizational Services, will lead a policy discussion at the Public Education Network (PEN)'s Annual Conference in San Francisco on November 17, 2008.

LaShawn and Chin will speak on the topic: What Does it Mean to Lead for Equity?

Over the past eight years BayCES has lead district-wide school reform efforts in Oakland and Emeryville, CA, with the goal of improving the educational outcomes and experiences of historically underserved students. In our reform work we aim to surface the systemic roots of inequity, while inspiring leaders to transform conditions on behalf of children. In this roundtable discussion we will present our Leading for Equity framework for transforming schools, districts, and communities.
