Introduction to Professional Development

Professional Development Institutes
BayCES conducts highly regarded professional development institutes that provide focused attention to the intellectual, strategic, and social-emotional challenges involved in making a leadership commitment to educational equity.

The Leading for Equity Institute (LFE)
For seven years the highly regarded LFE Institute has guided hundreds of educators through an intensive three-day seminar to examine the intellectual and social-emotional challenges of educational equity work. An open registration LFE Institute is held annually in the Bay Area (traditionally in February) and client-specific LFE Institutes are also available.

"...I must say this is the most valuable, humanizing, uplifting, empowering, wonderfully frightening experience of my life. It led to a blossoming in my belief in change, and in my commitment to make a difference - most importantly - in the lives of the students (each and every one) that I work with."

The Coaching for Educational Equity Institute (CFEE)
The CFEE is a three-day seminar for coaches, other support providers, and education leaders. Participants leave with greater insight into the effects of power and privilege on students and adults in schools, and skills to coach and facilitate leadership development and school transformation.

"I have no doubt that the ideas I've worked through here will have immediate relevance and will help me in my coaching this year - they actually have already begun to help!"

LFE & CFEE Institutes can be customized for your organization and held in your area. Please contact us to discuss your needs.

NEW! The Inquiry Initiative
A new program of BayCES coaching and professional development designed to increase achievement in secondary schools by increasing the effectiveness of teaching through coordinated data-based inquiry training and instructional coaching.
