Directions to BayCES Office

People attending small schools tours will meet at the BayCES office in Downtown Oakland at 7:30am on Friday, April 25th.

From San Francisco:
• Cross the Bay Bridge
• Take I-580 East (toward Hayward)
• Follow the signs for Downtown Oakland/980, veering right onto I-980.
• Exit at 14th - 18th Street exit
• At second light, turn left onto 17th St.
• Take 17th Street across San Pablo Ave. and Telegraph Ave. (about 5 blocks)
• Turn left on Broadway.
• We are on Broadway between 17th and 19th Streets on the right hand side (next to Best Music).
• There are several parking lots in the area, as well as metered parking on the street. (see below)

From I-880 North:
• Exit at I-980/State Rte 24 toward Downtown/Berkeley.
• Exit onto 17th/18th St.
• Turn right at the light (onto 17th Street).
• Follow 17th Street across San Pablo Ave. and Telegraph Ave. (about 5 blocks)
• Turn left on Broadway.
• We are on Broadway between 17th and 199h Streets on the right hand side (next to Best Music).
• There are several parking lots in the area, as well as metered parking on the street. (see below)

From I-580 West:
• Bear right after the Harrison Street Exit to get onto I-980 toward Downtown Oakland.
• Exit at 14th - 18th Street exit
• At second light, turn left onto 17th St.
• Take 17th Street across San Pablo Ave. and Telegraph Ave. (about 5 blocks)
• Turn left on Broadway.
• We are on Broadway between 17th and 19th Streets on the right hand side (next to Best Music).
• There are several parking lots in the area, as well as metered parking on the street. (see below)

Via BART:
• Get off at the 19th St. Station. Exit onto Broadway. If you exit from the south end of the station, you will be just a few doors from our office. If you exit at the north end of the station, when you reach street level, walk down the block until you reach 1720.

Parking:
• Several street level parking lots at 20th and Telegraph.
• Parking structure on Franklin between 17th and 19th Streets. (Franklin is one block over from Broadway, toward Lake Merritt.)

 

 


Directions to Preservation Park, Ginn House

The opening reception featuring Dr. Pedro Noguera commences at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 25th, at the Ginn House in Preservation Park.

From San Francisco Airport:
Take Route 101 North to San Francisco. Continue through San Francisco to the Bay Bridge (I-80 East). Take the Bay Bridge to the East Bay and follow signs to I-580 East. Follow I-580 to I-980 Downtown Oakland and take the 11th/12th Street exit. Turn left on 11th. Go two blocks on 11th to Martin Luther King Jr. Way, turn left. Go two blocks to 13th and Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The Park entrance is at 13th Street on the left.

From San Francisco:
Take the Bay Bridge (I-80) to the East Bay and follow signs to I-580 East. Follow I-580 to I-980 Downtown Oakland and take the llth/12th Street exit. Turn left on 11th . Go two blocks on 11th to Martin Luther King Jr. Way, turn left. Go two blocks to 13th and Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The Park entrance is at 13th Street on the left.

From Hayward, South Bay, San Jose and Palo Alto:
Travel north on I-880 to the Broadway exit (Downtown Oakland). Turn left on 12th Street. Go three blocks to Martin Luther King Jr. Way, turn right. Travel one block to 13th Street. The Park entrance is at 13th Street on the left.

From Oakland Airport:
When leaving the airport, follow the signs to Hegenberger Road to I-880 North. Travel north on I-880. Take the Broadway exit (Downtown Oakland) and go right onto Broadway. Turn left on 12th Street. Go three blocks to Martin Luther King Jr. Way, turn right. Travel one block to 13th Street. The Park entrance is at 13th Street on the left.

From North Berkeley:
Take I-80 West to I-580 and follow signs to I-980 (Downtown Oakland). Take the 11th/12th Street exit. Turn left on 11th . Go two blocks on 11th to Martin Luther King Jr. Way, turn left. Go two blocks to 13th and Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The Park entrance is at 13th Street on the left.

From Contra Costa County:

Take Hwy. 24 West to I-580 and follow signs to I-980 (Downtown Oakland). Take the 11th/12th Street exit. Turn left on 11th. Go two blocks on 11th to Martin Luther King Jr. Way, turn left. Go two blocks to 13th and Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The Park entrance is at 13th Street on the left.

Parking:
Center City West Garage is located across the street from the Park's main entrance (13th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way). The garage's main entrance is on Jefferson Street (1 block parallel to Martin Luther King Jr. Way ) between 12th and 14th Street.

BART:
Preservation Park is just a few short blocks away from Downtown Oakland's City Center Bart Station (12th Street and Broadway). For BART information, please visit www.bart.gov.


Directions to EXCEL High School, McClymonds Educational Complex

All conference events on Saturday, April, 26th, will be held at EXCEL High School in Oakland. EXCEL is about a mile away from downtown Oakland, easily accessible by car and bus.

Directions from the north:
Take I-580 East towards Oakland. Continue on I-80 West/I-580 East. Continue on I-580 EAST towards Downtown Oakland/Hayward/Stockton. Take the Macarthur Blvd./San Pablo Ave. Continue on W Macarthur Blvd. Turn right on Adeline St. Turn left on 28th St. where the entrance to the parking lot is.

From San Francisco:
Take I-80 east across the Bay Bridge. Take the I-580 East/Downtown Oakland (CA-24) exit towards Hayward-Stockton. Take the I-980 West exit towards Downtown Oakland. Take a right on 27th St. and then proceed across San Pablo Ave. onto 27th St. (you will have to turn right onto San Pablo and then take an immediate left onto 27th St). Continue on 27th St. across Market St. - the road becomes 26th St. Take a right on Myrtle Street and then a left on 28th St. where the entrance to the parking lot is.

From the south:
Take I-880 North towards Oakland. Continue on I-980 East and then take the 17TH St/San Pablo Ave. Bear left onto San Pablo Ave. Take a left on 27TH ST. Continue on 27th St. across Market St - the road becomes 26th St. Take a right on Myrtle St. and then a left on 28th St. where the entrance to the parking lot is.

By Public Transportation:
From downtown Oakland, EXCEL is accessible by AC Transit buses. For more information about AC Transit schedules and routes, please visit their web site: www.actransit.org. Parking:
Parking is available on the EXCEL High School site. The entrance to the parking lot is off of 28th Street. Street parking is available around the high school.


Visiting Oakland

Traveling to the conference from out of the Bay Area? Please visit the Oakland Convention and Visitors Bureau at www.oaklandcvb.com for information on events, restaurants, city maps, and attractions.


Oakland International Airport

Oakland International is the most convenient airport for conference participants. Visitors can also fly into San Francisco International Airport and take mass transit to Oakland.


Hotel Accommodations

Hotel accommodation is available at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Oakland, 988 Broadway, Oakland, CA. A limited number of rooms are available in the BayCES block for $149/night. Please contact the Marriott at 510-625-8282 to arrange hotel accommodation. The Courtyard is located seven blocks away from the BayCES office, four blocks from Preservation Park, and about 1 mile from EXCEL High School.
