We hope you’re doing well – and we know you’re making progress on working with your focal students and their learning targets.
This letter provides key information about:

Instructional Seminar #3
Thursday, December 4, 4:00 – 7:00 pm

Seminar #3 Agenda
Building on Seminars #1 and 2, which focused on formative assessment and determining learning targets, Instructional Seminar # 3 will focus on designing interventions for focal students around their learning targets. A significant chunk of the Seminar time will be supported worktime, so you’re able to leave with a more concrete plan for addressing focal student needs. You will hear from Zaretta (ELA) and Phil (Math) with more information about the agenda and what to bring. We will be differentiating our support in these Seminars: teachers will be able to choose a particular skill area (e.g. vocabulary development, lines & slope) they’d like to focus on in their planning - based on focal students’ learning targets.
Impact 2012 Evaluation
Teacher Survey.
As a key part of our evaluation process, all Impact 2012 teachers will need to complete a survey – one in December and one in May. It will be an online survey that takes approximately 15-20 minutes. You will receive an email from Rosie Papazian, our evaluation manager, with instructions, and your coaches can provide support. The window for the first survey will be from December 4 – December 19. We are paying you for your time doing this survey – the costs have been built into your $500 stipend and factored into the total amount of Seminar time.
Focus groups
We will also be conducting three focus groups – one for ELA teachers, one for Math teachers, and one for Principals. We need one ELA teacher, one Math teacher and the Principal from each school to participate. Focus groups will happen twice a year for 45 minutes each. Volunteers will receive additional “compensation” - we are offering a $50 Amazon gift certificate. The first focus groups will take place immediately following Instructional Seminar #3, from 7:00-7:45 pm at the Marriott hotel. The second focus groups will happen after Instructional Seminar #6 on May 14. If you think you might be interested, please let one of your BayCES coaches know.

10/14/08 Second Instructional Seminar Draws 115 Participants
Many thanks to the 115 teachers, principals and administrators who attended the second IMPACT 2012 Instructional Seminar at the Hilton Garden Inn in Emeryville on October 10th. 10/13/08 Information about Participant Stipends
IMPACT 2012 teachers will receive a $500 stipend for their participation in the Instructional Seminars. This stipend covers beyond contract time on the Seminar days (hours after 3:00 pm -- 17 hours total). We will distribute this stipend in one $500 check in December at Instructional Seminar #3 (Thursday, December 4th, 4 - 7 pm). We will not be logging hours or prorating check amounts if participants have missed Seminar time.
