Teachers Model Learning Interventions at Instructional Seminar #3
Teachers from all eleven IMPACT 2012 Schools developed and shared strategies to address key student skill gaps in math and English at the third Instructional Seminar of the school year on Thursday, December 4th.
At the beginning of the evening, Math and English teachers met in separate sessions to hear several examples of 'learning interventions,' or strategic responses to specific student weakness areas. After a break, teachers developed their own learning interventions in one of five content groups and then shared them with their colleagues for feedback.
In each session, teachers chose to focus on one of five key skill areas.
In the English session, teachers chose between:
*Reading Comprehension
*Vocabulary
*Refining Learning Targets
*Intervention Reflections
*Decoding
In the Math session, teachers chose between:
*Solving & Simplifying
*Algebra/CAHSEE Review
*Lines & Slope
*Whole Numbers & Fractions

10/13/08 Information about Participant Stipends
IMPACT 2012 teachers will receive a $500 stipend for their participation in the Instructional Seminars. This stipend covers beyond contract time on the Seminar days (hours after 3:00 pm -- 17 hours total). We will distribute this stipend in one $500 check in December at Instructional Seminar #3 (Thursday, December 4th, 4 - 7 pm). We will not be logging hours or prorating check amounts if participants have missed Seminar time.
