Leadership Coaching

BayCES coaches leaders.Coaches work with leaders to develop a shared assessment of the leaders' strengths and to identify growth areas. The coach and leader agree on leadership and school or district goals as well as the most effective coaching approaches given the context of the leader's work and the stage of their school/district's development.

Leadership development coaching takes place in the context of regular one-to-one coaching sessions, coaching observations of leadership practice, collaborative work, and coach modeling of effective leadership practice. The coaching relationship is based on mutual respect, is guided by an inquiry-based approach, and is focused on developing the capacity of the leader to be an effective leader for equity in their educational context.

"There is no substitute for leadership. Groups of educators in low-performing schools do not spontaneously organize themselves to systematically address the causes of low performance."
