Data-Based Inquiry Coaching
BayCES coaches data-based inquiry.In BayCES partner schools, the most common correlation with school success is the use of data (any evidence relevant to student learning) in a regular cycle of inquiry (a process by which teachers meet regularly to examine data and use it to improve teaching).
But in surveys, school leaders rate their own ability to lead data-based inquiry as their weakest instructional leadership skill. BayCES has been teaching schools how to use data effectively to improve instruction for 10 years.
Data-based inquiry coaching provides partners with the skills and tools to:
o Use multiple forms of data (standardized tests, performance assessments, survey data) to assess and accelerate student learning;
o Implement on-going cycles of inquiry guided by measurable, ambitious goals; and
o Use data to plan relevant professional development and modify instructional practice.
"Our BayCES coach has been instrumental in helping us understand and interpret the data, and create a great year-long PD plan based on the data work. That is a first for us."
