The symposium features small school tours, workshops by local teachers and scholars, and keynote speeches by Dr. Pedro Noguera of New York University and Dr. Linda Darling-Hammond of the School Redesign Network at Stanford University. School Tours - Friday, April 25, 8am-1:30pm Symposium participants are invited to guided school tours to new small schools in Oakland or San Francisco on Friday, April 25 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Each tour will visit two schools (most on one campus) and participants may choose tours of elementary or high schools in Oakland, or high schools in San Francisco. The school tours require a separate $50 fee in addition to any conference registration. For more information on school tour schedule and choices, click here. On Our Watch will bring together a wide range of education stakeholders to work on creating equitable and high-achieving urban small schools through powerful teaching and learning strategies. The symposium will provide participants with insights and tools to take back and use in their classrooms, schools, and communities.

The opening plenary speaker on Saturday, April 26 will be Dr. Linda Darling-Hammond, Co-Executive Director of the School Redesign Network at Stanford University, and recently named one of the 10 most influential people in education by the Editorial Projects in Education Research Center. Dr. Darling-Hammond's plenary keynote is entitled "Re-imagining Urban Education: Creating Schools that Work for All Students."
